Welcome Letter 2012-2013

September 4, 201

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to kindergarten!!  I’m looking forward to a great year filled with hands-on science and math, thematic studies, and lots and lots of reading and writing.

SNACK
We will have a snack time every afternoon.  Please send in a nutritious snack and a small drink (no soda) for your child.  Be sure to pack it in a separate bag (i.e. brown paper bag) so it doesn’t get confused with their lunch.  Please make sure to show your child where his or her snack is so that it can be located easily in the afternoon.

DAILY FOLDER
A communication folder will be sent home daily.  Homework, any letters from the office, forms to be filled out, newsletters, etc. will all come home in this folder.  Please empty out and look over the papers every night and return the folder to school the next morning.  Any notes, forms, money, etc. for me should come to school in this folder also. The students will learn that part of their daily responsibility will be to check their folders every morning in school, and to make sure you look at it at night.

Note:  If you send in money for any reason please put it in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s name, our room number (115), and a word or two explaining what the money is for.  Please place it in your child’s take-home folder and I will get it first thing in the morning.

IDENTIFICATION
Please print your child’s name with permanent marker on ALL of your child’s belongings (sweatshirts, coats, caps, mittens, boots, raincoats, lunch bag, book bag).

BIRTHDAYS
If you would like to send in a healthy treat to celebrate your child’s birthday, feel free to do so.  It is not required.  Please let me know in advance if you plan to send in a birthday treat.

I can’t wait to get to know you and your precious child!  If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail or call me.

Sincerely,
Teacher Christa
